Public information on eshowcase
What is eshowcase?
eshowcase is a searchable database of courseware and learning objects developed at the University of Melbourne. eshowcase resources are publicly available for licensing or sale.
eshowcase resources are classified into three media categories relative to format:
- software package
- digital collection
- digital object
What is a software package?
A software package is a software-based program, which may be a product developed for teaching and/or professional development purposes comprised of a number of integrated resources, or a specialised application developed by research staff for industrial application.
What is a digital collection?
A digital collection is made up of a number of digital objects related to a particular theme or topic. Some digital collections have been specially adapted to accommodate schools’ requirements.
Some digital collections carry the imprint of University of Melbourne Courseware Mosaic. A Mosaic is a series of high-quality digital collections that draw on specialist materials from the Baillieu Library Cultural Collection and/or originate from special collections of some of the University’s eminent teaching and research staff.
What is a digital object?
A digital object is an individual teaching and learning resource, which may be licensed for teaching and/or research, for private study, publication and/or promotional requirements. The licensing options that apply to enable individuals and/or third party organisations to use each category of work are specified throughout the eshowcase.
How to purchase and/or license a software package, digital collection or digital object?
The database entry for each resource specifies the formats in which that resource is available and the licensing protocols that are available in respect of each resource. Special customised licensing/subscription arrangements apply for use of the materials by some schools and other third party organisations.
